Ulpan Bayit is an amazing place to study Hebrew. Yaron's teaching style is fast-paced, interactive, fun, and most of all, I'm learning so much SO quickly. Having studied for 6 weeks at Ulpan Gordon, I can say that you can't even compare the two schools. This is a totally different ball park in terms of teaching quality. The loft and class setting is super spacious and comfortable. Cat, dog, coffee, snacks + small class + superb teaching. I doubt there's a better place to study Hebrew in Tel Aviv, highly recommend.

After trying several Ulpans in Tel Aviv and not finding the teaching efficient I finally stumpled upon Ulpan Bayit which turned out to be a great luck. I learned more in two months than I had for the previous eight months in the country! A mix of small interactive classes, professional teachers and fun and relaxed atmosphere is the perfect combination for fast learning, and kept me motivated throughout the course. I can warmly recommend this Ulpan and of course our lovely teacher Shira!

Ulpan Bayit was one of the best language learning experiences I've had. It's hard to overstate how much I learned and how much fun the learning experience was. Yaron and his crew are are a bunch of very fun, very talented Hebrew teachers, not to mention very friendly people. If you're planning on being in Tel Aviv for an extended period of time -- regardless of your Hebrew level -- you should check out some classes, because you will learn a lot very quickly.

As a few other reviewers have said, the relationship in the classroom is less teacher/student than a friendship in which one of the friends is teaching the other Hebrew. It's a very social learning experience, and during class and between breaks you will meet a lot of other people who are trying to get their bearings in Tel Aviv.

Oh, and if you're deciding between ulpan in Jerusalem or ulpan in Tel Aviv (or in any other city), pick Tel Aviv, and then thank me later.

Ulpan Bayit was not my first choice. Actually, it was my last choice since it was a private (which sounds almost same with "expensive" to me) ulpan, and was a bit too far from my house. I came to have a look of this ulpan just because the schedule of some other ulpans didn't fit me, and I didn't want to waste my time in Israel just waiting, without learning Hebrew anymore. I am lazy, and I am a person who easily skip the classes if I don't like it here, especially when it is far from my house. So I wondered if I should sign up, but then I told myself. "OK, it's only a month. And if I don't like it here, just go change the ulpan after taking one course. Just give it a try." And what happened as a result? I found out this ulpan so efficient and because of that, most likely cheaper than others. I remember some of my classmates saying, "Wow! I am really learning!" on the second day of Alef course already, for I felt just the same way. The class was intensive, and it really was. I have learnt some other languages before, and I even have some experience of taking super-intensive courses in Germany, in a very well-known language school. But in Ulpan Bayit, I felt totally different, and found out this was meant to be the real intensive. Not only the size of class, but also the teachers, helped me learn, without left alone, and I am very happy with their effort and the outcome. Although "intensive" course is often tough, and it was tough here as well, I believe this ulpan ease the difficulty with their way of teaching and atmosphere they make. Of course I know I need to learn more, and I am more than happy to keep learning in this ulpan.

Highly recommended. Ulpan Bayit’s courses combine rigorous language and grammar training with teaching of contemporary Israeli politics and society. The lessons are fast-paced and professional but, most importantly, fun and engaging – even after a day’s work! And the student-teacher ratio allows for individual attention and personal help, which is a rare luxury when compared to the common alternative: language factories with classes of 30+ students. In short, the best option for learning Hebrew in a fun and intensive environment.

Before beginning my studies at Ulpan Bayit, I studied for half a year at a private ulpan in Rehovot, and another couple months at Tel Aviv University. In terms of how much I have enjoyed learning Hebrew, and the extent to which my Hebrew has improved, Ulpan Bayit definitely takes the cake. The teachers at Ulpan Bayit are passionate about the Hebrew language, and it is clear that they take great pride and pleasure in transmitting that passion to their students via conversation, newspaper articles, literature, music and more. Whereas the material we studied in my last two ulpan experiences often felt dry and irrelevant to my life in Israel, the teachers at Ulpan Bayit are all young and culturally-engaged individuals who bring their own interests and flare into the curriculum. At the same time, students are invited to choose materials that interest them and to share them with the class, and the teachers are excellent at catering to all levels of students and making learning Hebrew fun and exciting. At Ulpan Bayit you will find language, community and fun times -- it would be a mistake to study anywhere else!
